• A recognized opportunity, still unclaimed. 79% of veterinarians agree that cats represent one of the profession’s most significant missed opportunities, yet only 35% report actively working to attract more cat-owning clients.
• Care is falling through the cracks. 56% of cats received no veterinary care in the past 12 months, and only 46% of caregivers report bringing their cat in for annual wellness exams.
• A communication gap hiding in plain sight. 65% of veterinarians believe they provide guidance on reducing stress around vet visits, but only 30% of cat caregivers say they’ve actually received it.
• Cost and education shape the decision to visit. 61% of caregivers want payment options that spread the cost of care evenly across the year, and 72% say they want more education about their cat’s health care needs.
• The bond is there, even when visits aren’t. 62% of caregivers who regularly visit the vet say they would spend any amount of money to keep their cat healthy, showing that emotional commitment isn’t the barrier: access and communication are.
